Has an appraisal ever pinpointed a narcissist/”office powerpath” who typically causes orders of magnitude more damage than anyone else ?

The narcissist/”office powerpath” causes orders of magnitude more problems than the “vanilla” worker. Takes the whole organization “to hell in a handcar”. So is there any point in writing an “appraisal” of a co-worker, unless only to thank them for good work well done?

of course there is a point and you are TOTALLY missing IT!
An appraise should be a focus on skills, talents and opportunities.. its not supposed to be brown nosing or patting someone on the head. you need to look for opportunities to extend the persons skills… new opportunities, responsibilities etc. its a way to say well done you have done this well… how can we now expand you and stretch your skills. you need to set aims and goals.. so the person feels motivated.
Use SWAT analysis…. strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats… and KISS keep it short and simple!

You’d be mad to commence the exercise without knowing what findings you wanted to obtain. Therefore the exercise would be purely cosmetic. Therefore the organization would move to tweak the numbers to achieve the desired result.

It won’t . The are too subjective. all they might reveal is that you are well liked or not well liked by your peers.
when I was required to do them I always gave the person high marks and positive remarks.
If the Corp. was trying to find an excuse to let some one go . They wouldn’t be able to use my review of them to justify it.
